📖 Bible Verse

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1 (KJV)

🌿 Meaning

Psalm 23:1 gives us a beautiful picture of God as our Shepherd—the One who watches over us, leads us, protects us, and provides for our needs.

A sheep depends on its shepherd for direction and safety. In the same way, God invites us to depend on Him rather than believing that we must figure everything out on our own.

When David says, “I shall not want,” he is expressing confidence that God is enough. It does not mean that we will receive everything we desire or never experience difficulties. Rather, it means we can trust God to provide what we truly need and to remain with us through every season.

Whatever you are facing today, you are not walking alone. The Shepherd is with you.

🙏 Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for being my Shepherd and for watching over me every day.

Lead me in the right direction when I am uncertain. Protect me when I am vulnerable. Provide for me when I have needs, and give me wisdom when I have difficult decisions to make.

Forgive me for the times I allow fear and worry to make me forget Your faithfulness. Teach me to trust You more deeply and to be content with what You provide.

Help me recognize Your voice and follow Your leading. When I walk through difficult seasons, remind me that Your presence is greater than my circumstances.

Thank You for being my provider, protector, and guide.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

💡 Life Application

1. Let God lead you.
Before making important decisions, seek God’s wisdom instead of relying entirely on your own plans.

2. Trust God’s provision.
Do your part faithfully, but don’t allow fear about tomorrow to rob you of today’s peace.

3. Practice contentment.
Instead of constantly focusing on what you lack, take time to recognize and thank God for what He has already provided.

4. Remember that God’s presence matters more than circumstances.
Even when life becomes difficult, you can have confidence that your Shepherd has not abandoned you.

5. Follow rather than run ahead.
A sheep is safest when it stays close to the shepherd. Stay close to God through prayer, Scripture, and obedience.

🌅 Today’s Declaration

The Lord is my Shepherd. I will not live in fear or lack. He will guide me, provide for me, protect me, and sustain me. I choose to trust His direction and rest in His faithful care.

❤️ Thought for Today

You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you can trust the Shepherd who already knows the way.

Have a blessed and peaceful August 20, 2026. 🙏
